We Just Got A Call!

My phone range.  It was an unknown caller.  And it went a little something like this:

Hello?

Hi!  This is so-and-so from Wake County DSS.  Is this Redhead in Raleigh?

Yes!  It is!

Would you be willing to take a 3 year old and a 1 year old for respite care this weekend?

Yes!  Thanks!

Okay, there was a bit more to the conversation than that.  But you get the jist.  We will have two little visitors this weekend!  Woohoo!  We'll call them Peas and Carrots to keep with the vegetable theme.

And for those of you who are not up on all of the foster parenting lingo aka everyone besides foster parents and social workers, respite care is nothing more than overnight babysitting.  Babysitting foster kids is complicated.  The "Approved Babysitter List" is only good for regular babysitting, not overnight stays.  Only licensed foster parents are able to babysit a foster child overnight.  And as you can imagine, there aren't very many licensed foster parents around who are available!  But I'm pretty excited that we fit the bill this time!
